Anyone who owns a puggle have any words of advice?

I'm going to be adopting a boy puggle at the first of the year and wondered if anyone who owns one had any words of advice or stories they'd like to share to help me prepare for his arrival :).

THANKS!Anyone who owns a puggle have any words of advice?
Happy to share some advice. As one answerer already stated, be aware of what kind of dog you are getting. They are high energy and as puppies can be very hyperactive. As long as you can devote a lot of time playing with and excercising your puppy you should be fine. Be aware if you leave your puggle alone unsupervised, it will get in to mischeif. If you work during the day, make sure and leave the dog in an enclosed puppy proof area, or even a crate if only gone for short periods.

Puggles tend to be very smart and enjoy games like monkey in the middle, and ours even likes hide and seek. (she only seeks). So games like this will keep your dog out of trouble, and also serve to tire him out before bed time.

Some things about our puggle that may or may not be prevalent in other puggles -

Gassy

Loves to talk - sometimes in a low pitched howl

excellent watch dog

sheds moderately

gets along great with other dogs

Hope this helps. Good luck!Anyone who owns a puggle have any words of advice?
they are sssooo cute!
Adopt it from a rescue or shelter and don't buy one from a breeder. No good breeder intentionally mixes two breeds and sells them for profit.
Exercise, exercise, exercise. And training (that would be mental exercise). Pugs and beagles both are a lot of dog in a not-so-large package. A lot of people get them expecting them to be a low-maintenance lap dog because they are small and are then horrified by the amount of energy these little dogs need to expend in order to not be destructive little terrors. Training (basic obedience, and classes like agility, rally, tracking, etc) is an excellent way to burn off some of that energy and a fantastic way to bond with your dog.

You might also want to invest in some pet health insurance. Puggles are not bred by responsible breeders...the people producing these dogs are in it for a profit and don't care what kind of health problems could turn up in their puppies. They generally don't do health testing of any kind and they certainly aren't breeding the best and healthiest dogs out there. Beagles are generally pretty healthy genetically speaking, although they are often prone to ear infections and can be prone to allergies. Pugs are not one of the more genetically healthy breeds and are prone to breathing problems and respiratory disease because of their shortened noses as well as heart disease, eye problems, skin infections, and allergies (often severe allergies). Puggles can have any, all, or none of the common health problems of either breed...which means you could end up with a healthy dog that only needs to see the vet once a year or you could end up with a sickly dog that visits the vet once every few months or so. You may or may not need it, but in the unfortunate event you end up with a sickly puggle you will really appreciate the health insurance.

Please don't get your puggle from a breeder. These people don't care what happens to their dogs and are trying to make a quick buck off of a fad ';designer'; dog. There are lots of puggles in shelters and rescue groups waiting for a perfect home.
Generally speaking Puggles are very cute and just like a beagle. Many of them end up in shelters because they weren't what their new owners expected. They are very high energy and usually don't get much of their disposition and personality from the pug side.

You have to be careful of them as they will follow their nose anywhere and often can't follow it back home. They often are hit by cars while chasing squirrels and rabbits and who knows what.

Do some study on beagles and you'll have a good idea of what your Puggle will be like. They make good dogs if you have the room and the energy for them. They really aren't apartment dogs.
don't feed it chocolate.

found out the hardway by giving a dog like 10 blocks of chocolate.

it like, kills them.
What's a puggle?
