Advice about a home remedy for dandruff?

I've had bad dandruff since around the time puberty started. Head and Shoulders works only so much- I still have flakes and my scalp is still itchy like mad. Tonight, I had enough and researched home remedies for dandruff, and found a simple one of using vinegar. I tried it, and so far so good. My scalp isn't itching as it normally does after washing my hair with Head and Shoulders.

My question is, however, how harmful is this to my hair, if at all? How often should I do this to minimize any potential damage? Thanks.

[I wasn't sure where to put this, so please tell me if it's in the wrong category.]Advice about a home remedy for dandruff?
A few remedies that you can try at home are:

- Apply coconut oil on your scalp and leave it for an hour. After an hour, apply lemon juice and massage your scalp. Leave it on for another hour, and then shampoo your hair with a mild shampoo. This will leave your hair shiny and without any dandruff flakes.

- Take an egg, beat it and apply on the scalp and leave it for an hour. Shampoo your hair and you will find that the dandruff has disappeared.Advice about a home remedy for dandruff?
I've used apple cidar vinegar a few times, smells awful lol. It's supposed to help balance the ph, that's why it's supposed to work for that. Another thing to try is some tea tree oil, a few drops in your shampoo. Just use a good conditioner on your ends. Here's the site I like using for home remedies, doesn't say how often to use it, I would say every other day until it's under control, then a few times a week for maintenance. Just massage it into your scalp, not all your hair.

Not sure if this will go right to the page, may have to search around a bit, but it's easy to navigate:

.
Believe it or not Mayonnaise is a very good remedy. It will make your hair shiny and healthy as well as moisturize your scalp. good luck...
It's not harmful at all, it just helps the shampoo rinse away better. I use head and shoulders too, the intensive treatment, and I also use pantene conditioner. It has worked very well. For bad times try Nutragena T-Gel. It's a more expensive one but works wonders. Dermatologists usually prescribe it or at least recommend it. Another remedy is using Tea Tree Oil. You can find this in any beauty supply store where the acrylic nail supplies are. It kills and prevents fungus. Dandruff is caused by a fungus. Mix about a teaspoon into your shampoo and rinse normally. It will burn if you have open scabs and it smells funny but also works very very well.

Good luck.
I can't stand Head and Shoulders. But thats my opinion. [:

Anyway, I reckon you could use the vinegar about 2 or 3 times a week. But not every night.

Vinegar is great for dandruff too (well, duh).

Here are some other remidies for dandruff that you could try;

Best of luck [:
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar(ACV) the best!!! Rinse your hair with a half and half solution with water. As your problem improves,(and it WILL), go to one third ACV and two thirds water. The vinegar works primarily due to it's acidic content.
I kinda have the same problem but not as bad as yours. I use coconut oil which u can get probably at a grocery store or some kind or herbal store. You put a lot on and rub it in so your scalp can get moisture cause right now it seems dry. These shampos are all chemicals and dumb. I use coconut oil and soak it on my scalp in the mornings on weekends so it stays on my hair all day. Doing it on weekdays is kinda dumb cause of school or work and nights are not good since it will rub off on your pillows at night.
A herbal rinse is a safe method of removing dandruff. Apply lemon juice with the rind on the scalp .After 5 minutes wash off with shampoo and water. More simple remedies at http://usefulinfo-dandruff.blogspot.com/

Advice on a retired person converting from a traditional IRA to a Roth?

I have a traditional IRA (about 40K) that I am thinking of converting to a Roth IRA. I am retired and about 3 years away from mandatory IRA withdrawals. Knowing full well that I will take a tax hit if I do this, is it a good idea to do this and just let the money grow tax free or should I just steel myself to mandatory yearly withdrawals at age 70 1/2, I can afford the tax hit and my taxable income in 2007 was approx 37K. ThxAdvice on a retired person converting from a traditional IRA to a Roth?
If you have the money in non-tax deferred accounts to pay the taxes on the Roth conversion, then go ahead and make the conversion to the Roth. Don't convert more than what would put you into the 28% bracket.

According to the Motley Fool:

You can find Roth IRA conversion ';calculators'; all over the Web to help you with your decision (test several or read reviews first to make sure the calculator you use matches your personal situation best -- not all calculators are created equal). We have IRA calculators to help you chose between a regular IRA and a Roth IRA and decide whether to convert an IRA into a Roth IRA:

Sheesh, this is too important to trust to a random bunch of people answering questions on YA because they have nothing better to do!! Find a financial adviser!
If you are three years away from mandatory withdrawals, just let it set and take minimum withdrawals when you have to.
Assuming you will have less taxable income after you retire (most, but not all do) the answer given by Wartz is correct.

If your tax bracket will be the same or lower after you retire, it would cost you more (both in real dollars and the time value of money) to pay the tax now. Only if you will be in a higher bracket after you retire would your plan be to your benefit.

I am 34 years old and have a hyper pigmented spots on the face pl advice for home remedies?

I am 34 years old and have hyper pigmented spots on the face.I am getting irrited very soon even on the small small things.I am 34 years old and have a hyper pigmented spots on the face pl advice for home remedies?
This is a safe, permanent cure and it麓s using low cost natural oils which are only beneficial to the skin. It worked wonders at ridding me of pigmentations, dicolorations, sun damage, a mass of freckle, pimples and scars, large pores, brown spots, countless other conditions and even a large mole and eventually gave me a blemish free healthy skin. And it has helped many others - see my many Best Answers(acne scars, discolorations, etc.) and responses from users.

Use a natural oil - olive oils work really well and are particularly good for oily skin that is prone to acne, etc.(do a web search ';Olive oil a beneficial treatment for acne, oily skin?';) Massage over and over with a quite strong, vigorous motion (the more vigorous the better). Better to use a '; to and fro'; action not a circular one using finger tips or sides and front of fingers depending where on face you massage. You will find you can make it more vigorous and can massage for longer periods as you progress (build up to 30 min a session for best results). It麓s the massaging friction that forces a fresh, clearer skin to eventually emerge. Initially, the skin has to adjust and if soreness, breakouts or other reactions happen - skin might expel poisons that need to be expelled - then stop and resume when you can. You have to find the pace that works for you - it's different for every person. In about 3 - 5 days - depending on how vigorously and for how long you have been able to make the massage - you should start to see noticeable results. Keep it up and in 10 to 15 days you will see more noticable results. It also gives skin a radiantly healthy glow and is very effective treatment for tightening and rejuvenating skin. The oil quickly absorbs into skin so it is best to splash face with water and dab dry any excess with tissues or an old towel. You will not need to use any other treatment ever again! Also, as olive oil is a natural moisturizer you will not need to use any other. Some skin clinics may tell you to only massage gently but this treatment has only been beneficial to the many who have tried it. Try it - you will be happy that you did! It really works.

What's ';hyper pigmented';.?
well,

I am somewhat going through the same thing,

only, I'm fifteen,

and I have acne scars,

somewhat of the same thing no?

it irritates you, its there, its visable.

What I ended up doing,

is using NEUTROGENA's WAVE.

i've used it for three days, and the scars I had were not visable, unless you squinted, or got right in my face.

little by little its going away, but it made a BIG difference to me.

and, there's also special creams for that, like I'm using

Palmer's Skin Success Eventone ultra fade serum.

its the strongest of the three ';cream, milk, serum'; and especially for the face, hands and neck if I recall.

hope it helps.

I am going to start traveling as a dialysis RN. Anyone have any words of advice on this?

traveling w/ the family can pretty rough. You can run into housing problems and pay issues. Make sure you've researched your company through and through. I've been traveling for over two years now and have had some great experiences, but have also been through some pretty rough times arguing over benefits and housing. Good luckI am going to start traveling as a dialysis RN. Anyone have any words of advice on this?
That is a difficult situation, but it sounds like you have the childcare thing and schedules worked out. Good luck. I had a friend who worked PRN on a traveling basis and it was difficult for her, even though she had schedule flexibility, it didn't always work with her husband's schedule, and after a while, he felt slighted because he never got any quality time.

Thinking about getting a Dodge Charger any advice?

I love the look of the Dodge Chargers, but I have had lots of bad experiences with BRAND NEW Dodges, I am afraid of getting something that will fall apart in a few years. Has anyone had any experience with the charger, does it have any bad qualities, and how is it on gas milage.Thinking about getting a Dodge Charger any advice?
the charger is a pretty good car, they have experienced problems with transmissions, and other problems though, all cars have some problems, their not good on gas at all ,Chrysler has not the got the gas mileage thing figured out yet,i service a few though and most of them are doing ok,the most complaints i hear on those is the gas mileage especially with gas being the price it is now,i have had a few with electrical problems also that had to go back to the dealer,so use good judgment on this, good luck.Thinking about getting a Dodge Charger any advice?
My uncles are both mechanics and I am getting into the business of car and all I heard about the Charger that is a great car. Gas milage could be better but other than that they are worth the $ for them. I would say before you get it test drive it, get the feel, if you like it, go for it.

enjoy your charger.
I don't know anything about the Charger, but I'm recalling with some bitterness how Chrysler managed to build paint-repellant cars for a few years, and refused to ever issue a recall on it. My car had advanced auto eczema. Never buying Chrysler anything again.
Not the best on gas mileage however does have horsepower. I havent had any problems with mine yet. I suggest you test drive it and if you like the way it drives buy it. Mine is absolutely great and I LOVE IT. HEMI!!!!
i sell them and havent heard anything wrong yet.the quality is a lot better now and with a lifetime warranty you cant go wrong.remember toyota is having big problems now with their trucks and no recalls
They are decent in reliability, but get a Pontiac G8 instead. They are faster and look better(IMO) than the Chargers.
Save your money and get a Challenger when it comes out.

  • Hello, thank you in advance for the advice. How possible is it for someone to sell your car without?

you knowing. Long story short, I have a car that's over 30 years old at my folks house. My brother is mentally ill (seriously), and threatens to sell my car over some bet (I don't know what he's talking about). My parents are too old to stop or follow him, so my question is can he forge my name on a bill of sale, even though the car is registered and insured to me?Hello, thank you in advance for the advice. How possible is it for someone to sell your car without?
Yes, he can forge your name and sell the car ';as is'; without title. Would it be legal? no. You would have to report his theft, and the car as stolen, if you have a title to prove ownership.

Would it be difficult for you to find out who it was to, and get the car back? Possibly. here's where your problem would be. If you have no title, you would need something to prove your possession. Even if you did have a title, stolen cars can easily be hidden. Cars before the 17 digit VIN became standard can be difficult to trace in the system. The new owner may not even know your brother didnt have rightful title. They may plan on restoring it, and have it in a garage for years for the process. If they arent interested in immediately registering it, it wouldnt matter if you have registration. It could also be parted out without registration.

Move it, if you are unsure of its safety.Hello, thank you in advance for the advice. How possible is it for someone to sell your car without?
If your brother forges your name, you can press charges for auto theft, and you can get the car back because you never sold the car.

If it were me, I would move the car away from your parent's house, and store it somewhere away from your brother
If your brother does not have the title on the vehicle, the buyer might not even be interested. If he forge your signature on the bill of sale and the title then you have the right to sue him and take it to court. Legally he can not sell your car if it is in your name.
Not legally he can't. The only way he would be able to is if his name is on the title. If that's the case... If it is listed as ';your brother'; and ';you';, both signatures are required. If it's listed as OR, he can.

Depending on what you are tinkering with you, can use the blue candy mints. I don't know what the are called, but the come in the peppermint party bag. they are usually the ones no one eats. or you can use blue cough drops. Or melt a blue sucker. Or make hard candy and color it blue. www.candymaking.net has a great recipe for your regular hard candy.Looking for a tintable cake glaze, any advice?
here's my favorite glaze mix powdered sugar with a small amount of water and lemon juice. you can color it blue by add pureed blueberries or blue food coloring.
icing gel can be tinted blue %26amp; makes a great water/pond. just add a touch of blue or green food coloring. i have made a pond cake using this %26amp; it turned out great. i have pics if you want

Can anyone give me advice on step by step how to open a fashion/modeling agency in New York?

I have a non profit agency currently that runs a charity fashion program for youth... I want to branch off and start a for-profit modeling agency in the 5 boroughs of NYC. Obviously not as big as Ford and Elite but it is an area I want to venture into. How do I begin to set up formally? Can anyone give me advice on step by step how to open a fashion/modeling agency in New York?
You need to speak with the Small Business Administration because NY has so many different rules, regulations and licensing requirements for talent agencies. There are laws regarding how much commission you can charge, how you need to employ your models, what sort of insurance you need to have, special requirements for models under age 16, etc, etc.

I worked for a large agency and we had an entire legal department just dealing with all of the state regulations because they change all the time.

Your first step is becoming licensed as a talent agent in NY State as well as an employment agency in NY City which has its own requirements

    http://www.agentassociation.com/frontdoo鈥?/a>

    http://home.nyc.gov/html/dca/html/licens鈥?/a>

I seriously would not consider starting a modeling agency in this economic climate. Model bookings are down 40-50% even at top agencies as magazines are closing, advertisers are cutting down on new campaigns, and designers keep pulling out of NY Fashion Week. A number of well-known NY agencies like Karin have closed because the market is already over-saturated with agencies and there is not enough work to support them all. There are rumors that two of the top 10 agencies are going to merge because both are experiencing such severe losses that they cannot continue without a partnership.

tell her to be STRAIGHT FORWARD when she has this conversation with him about how he's making her feel. get straight to the point and do not, i repeat DO NOT beat around the bush or go willy nilly like ';oh i guess i was over reacting...'; he needs to know how she feels...What is the best advice i can give my friend over a boy?
Tell her to move on. She should not waste her time for that guy. Tell her there are still lot of deserving guys out there.

Comfort her. Hang out with her often and if possible let her mingle with other guys so that she won't remember the guy who made her cry.

I am having a cocktail party and want to make as much in advance as I can. Any great suggestions? Also, can I prepare puff pastry hors d'euvres the day before and just bake them off during the party?I need good cooks' advice for cocktail party?
Yes, preparing puff pastry before, baking off just prior to aprty is fine.

Do things you can pull out of the fridge and put in the oven. (see a few recipes below) Have them on bakign sheets in the fridge, ready and waiting.

Of course dips are a great make-ahead thing. Dont' forget a hot dip in a chafing dish.

    1 can whole water chestnuts

    1 pound bacon

    1/4 cup mayonnaise

    1/4 cup chili sauce

    1/2 cup brown sugar

cocktail party's have lots of finger food , for the puffs bake them before party starts u don't want to be cooking when your guest come
    Here's a few suggestions:

1] Deli platter with meat and cheese.

Don't forget the tomatoes, lettuce, onions, pickles, assorted breads, mustard, mayo, napkins, plates, etc.

2] Meat balls in tomato sauce and/or roast beef in its natural gravy.

4] Cold drinks, coffee and tea.

Don't forget the cold cups, ice, straws, creamer, milk, sugar, artificial sweetener, lemon wedges, spoons and hot cups.

5] Ask some folks to bring dessert.

7] OR you could have a Pot Luck party and folks could make whatever they wanted and it would be ';pot luck'; - a shot in the dark as to what foods are made. Sometimes two people bring the same dish. For example: potato salad.

Does anyone have any advice or tips on babysitting?

I need some advice, suggestions, or tips for babysitting. I'm babysitting tomorrow, Thursday. I'm babysitting for a 2 year old. He's very active and wants to continuously be doing something. Game suggestions or things to do at the park or my backyard would be great, too. If you have any websites I can check out, please tell me about them, too. Thank you, in advance, for your help.Does anyone have any advice or tips on babysitting?
sure...i love to babysit, i just got done w/ a 9 hour day....

-i always leave the parents a note, of what we did, when the kid/s ate, slept, whatever, they love hearing how wonderful their kid/s were. many of families i have babysit for look for it first thing when they come in the door. (good pleaser to get invited back)

-fun, simple crafts. paint, crayons, the parent will love seeing what he made for them

-take him outside, and take a medium sized-light ball and just play catch. little kids, especially like attempting this. too cold? use a balloon and stay inside.

-if he seems pretty smart(advanced) go on an ';adventure'; and find missing objects, outside, hide balls, small toys, he will feel accomplished.

    -play dough. so fun.

-make a simple obstacle course, keep in mind at 2 years old, nothing elaborate, maybe jump over something small, weave through cones, go through hula hoop, etc.

-try doing some educational stuff, too, like puzzles, pop up books, touch and feel books, or an educational video

good luck! you shouldn't be bored, especially with a 2 year old! have fun! Hope this helped!Does anyone have any advice or tips on babysitting?
take him to the park and push him on the swings...

take a ball out in the backyard and kick or throw it back and forth...

check out familyfun.com. they have craft ideas specific to the age of the child and length of time you have.....
like i know a game little kids like its a board game but i loved it when i was little and its called ';dont wake daddy';. its where you move these peices acrossed the board tring not to get the daddy to wake up if you have that game.

or you could like push him on a swing at the park, thats origanal. lol. if you do take him to the park you could put him on monkey bars and help him do monkey bars. oh and little kids love to play in like sand pits and dirt piles so you could like build stuff with sand with him if you want or dig holes and look for things. my friends little brother loves diging for things in the back yard.
if he's active, he'll love the park or anyplace outdoors -he'll find things to do there. He can explore the nature and climb on monkey bars and swing and there will probably be other kids at the park as well. Good luck and keep your sense of humor (always!)

Does anyone have any advice regarding the ';work from home'; websites?

As I look for a job, I keep seeing advertisements for Data Entry Consultants - work from home. Does anyone have any advice for me - is it legitimate?Does anyone have any advice regarding the ';work from home'; websites?
I had heard that there is a group that investigates these types of things and the latest is that only 1 in 58 is legitimate. Been trying to find that website to use it as a reference but I haven't been able to get past all the fake work at home websites that come up when I try to search for it.

    Good luck.

Can anyone offer practical advice on how to become a novelist?

I'm just wondering if anyone has any practical advice to offer on becoming a writer, especially of novels (science fiction, fantasy, etc.).Can anyone offer practical advice on how to become a novelist?
I've often thought about writing my own novel. To be honest, I don't think you need to do an awful lot besides be a good writer, so long as you have the ability and the imagination. You're on the internet so I assume you have a computer. A programme like word is perfectly adequate for writing novels.

You're into fantasy, sci-fi, so you wouldn't need to do loads of research (although it would help a lot for certain sci-fi stories). Just try and think of something original. I think I would spend several weeks or months just brainstorming, i.e. jotting down random thoughts and ideas that I might think would make a good story.

After the brainstorming (when you have the basis of a good story) you should plan out the basic narrative of your novel - how it begins, how it ends, the characters etc before putting pen to proverbial paper.

You could try writing short stories first. They're easier to write and you could still get them published if they're good enough. Many of the best writers have done short story compilations. Can anyone offer practical advice on how to become a novelist?
It takes a lot of work. I';m working on a novel now, but it's more then just writing words. You also have to create a name for yourself. Get stuff you've written in magazines and contests, get your name out there. That way, when you do try to publish, you have some standing.

Research your material, but don't lord your knowledge over your reader or assume your reader is too dumb to understand what you write. Show more then tell. There are several wonderful research books out there. Use them.

    Good luck.
    I once read a quote:

    ';There's nothing to writing. Just sit down and slit your wrists.';
I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but this is an e-book by Holly Lisle - a woman who quit her day job and supports herself and her family by writing novels. It has some great food for thought - even if you're not interested in doing it as a full-time career.

    http://www.envisionsoftware.biz/hollylis鈥?/a>
Write down what inspires you and when you do make sure you date it. In other words keep a writer's journal. It can also be your personal journal.

Take the inspiration for your writing from life itself. If you have one person or thing that permeates the very basis of your writing then write about that in as many genres.

I would also see if you have any poetry and see if it can be legnthened into a novel or at least an epic poem. Epic poetry can be considered as literature look at ';The Oddessy'; and ';The Illiad'; by Homer. They are epic poetry and are considered to be novels in some English classes today.
Stick to your story!!! That doesn't mean don't be descriptive, but I've already read books where they take no less than eight paragraphs to describe the sun! I hate that.
The best place to start would be to make sure you're able to compose a complete (and correct) sentence.
Read a lot, write a lot, and never ever give up trying. Persistance is everything.

    Good luck
Unless you are driven, with burning desire, to tell a story, you need to realize it is not for everyone. When they sat around camp fires, and listened to a story teller, chance told you that the story teller had a certain talent. The story teller drew from travel experience, life's stumble, and bolders thrown his way. The deeds he took a part in (good %26amp; bad ) and the curiousity, that had him skip a meal or two, to be in the right place at the right time. Now, not all of these were able to form the written sentence, and the rare exceptions that could, became authors, and took their rank in the page of history, that has still to be written. Go and do some living and gain experience, research novelist's great and less than great alike, because there were always critics out amongst the story tellers, and they had their warped oppinions, and tastes.
there are several books out there to help you format your thoughts and get you focus on the objective of your story. Such as the guide to good writing by randon house. Also there are books that help outline and formulate your story in a step by step fashion.
Sit down and open a vein. (metaphorically speaking, of course)
write what you feel and what you know and adjust personal experiences to pen with

it will come to you not you to it

    when it starts spewing

    you'll know its right
This is a common question in this category. Essentially, you need to tell a story that says ';life is like that!'; regardless of genre.

Stories are a metaphor for life. Before you even begin to write you must have something to say or else your characters go from scene to scene without any meaning. There are three things that I believe are important and these three things are often confused with each other. Learning about these I think will help you to move your story:

    1) Premise

    2) Setting

    3) Theme

Let me illustrate the difference so you can easily find the theme and understand its difference from the setting and premise. By seeing how a writer creates stories, you can see it from his or her point of view and clearly find the theme, create a premise and setting and learn to do it yourself.

The controlling idea is the meaning of your story. It is another word for ';theme';. The premise is what happens. The setting is the place and time where it's set.

For example, when you ask someone who just watched or read ';Lord of the Rings'; what it's about, they'll probably say something like, ';it's an epic story about a hobbit who is given a huge responsibility to take a magical ring into a mountain to destroy it and save the world and elves and men unite to....etc..'; Or they may answer ';It's about Middle Earth';. These are not themes. The first is simply the premise. The latter is the setting. What the story is *really* about is: ';Freedom is attained when we risk and sacrifice ourselves.'; That is the controlling idea (the theme) of the story. Of course, we can debate if that is the true controlling idea but I'm only giving you my interpretation.

Harry Potter's premise contains magic, and the setting is in a fantasy land, but the theme is not about magic nor fantasy. The theme of Harry Potter might be: ';Happiness prevails when we are confident of our own gifts and individuality.'; Discuss. =)

Now you can apply this understanding as I'll explain below with a story to any story you read.

First, I'll explain the premise. This way you'll see the difference.

A writer finds a premise through research and asking ';what if'; for any situation. If you read the news, one can find many ideas if you simply ask yourself ';what if'; as you read through it.

For example, I randomly selected a news article on Yahoo News:

Survivors recall horror of flu pandemic

As I'm reading through each line, I'm thinking about story ideas and asking ';what if';. For example, I read this line:

%26gt;%26gt; The flu swept through the nation's capital, which had attracted thousands of soldiers and war workers.

Now I'm asking myself, 'what if someone built a virus and orchestrated a large event so they could infect everyone in it to inflict the most damage?'

That's a start, but sounds a bit cliche, but that's okay. Let your mind race and you'll then ask ';what if'; upon ';what if';. What if the person accidently released the virus and kept silent while everyone around them died? What if the event was organized by a force where people are called to gather in one location but everyone made excuses for going there without realizing they were being forced -- only a supernatural force could do that -- and the reason is the supernatural force wanted to end the human race? hehe...this gets into some horror or science-fiction if that's your bag. But you can see the magic ';what if'; at work.

Let's choose the supernatural 'what if' as the premise in this example. Now we're going to start thinking of the controlling idea. This is what is the heart of your story -- the story you need to tell and what the story is *truly* about.

    The controlling idea is not a single word; it's not going to be about ';viruses'; nor ';aliens'; nor ';Civil War';. The Controlling Idea tells us, ';life is like this!';

The controlling idea will be a sentence that tells us how and why life changes from one condition of existence to another (again, theme and controlling idea are the same -- I prefer to use controlling idea). This change will show up in the climax of the last act of your story. That's where you will find the controlling idea.

Concerning how I came up with Harry Potter's controlling idea, I looked at the last acts' endings of every Harry Potter story. What value changed? Harry went from being unconfident to confident and therefore was happy whereas each story opens with him in a situation and the world crumbling around him and constantly being challenged. Look at the last act's value change.

Fine writers filter everything they write through the controlling idea and then work up to the last climax -- look at the value that exists throughout the story because there will be themes that come and go. For example in Harry Potter he often seeks to befriend those who try to do him harm so we learn that ';Trust is earned when we love our enemy'; -- or because that didn't always work we could say, ';Evil prevails when we try to love our enemies'; but either of these is not the controlling idea of the entire story.

Going back to my story, by following the writer's work and using the premise that people are being supernaturally led to gather in one location, we need to come up with a protagonist. I'm going to use a ';what if'; and ask 'what if the protagonist is also under this supernatural spell?' That will make it more interesting because it will provide deeper conflict. Not only will he have to try to save the world but also get out the spell himself perhaps.

Some more questions I will ask myself and we're going to come to the controlling idea of the story I created: What is this spell? What is so attractive to force these people to gather without them even knowing they're being forced? Now this is starting to get rich. We know a lot of people do things they don't want because they're manipulated. Cults are famous for doing this. Charismatic leaders and propaganda are also effective. People are manipulated in many ways that many fail to see they're being manipulated. And those who best manipulate do it without you knowing. Life is like that! Now I'm starting to find my controlling idea.

My controlling idea is a sentence, it's not simply ';manipulation';. So, I start with something -- it's better than nothing: ';Evil prevails when we fail to examine our conscious and instead follow others'; or ';Compassion prevails in humans only when we follow our conscious';. Whichever we choose, it must be clear in the last-climax of the last act of your story.

As a writer develops the story, they work to that last act. Many writers paste that controlling idea onto the computer monitor and filter everything they write through it. Your characters may go in different directions, but this controlling idea is the writer's guide.

Concerning the setting, you can place this story in a different dimension, in a different time, or on a different planet. That will change the dynamics of the story but it won't change the controlling idea and that is where the power of the story exists -- it gives it meaning.

For the setting let's place this premise 50 years into the future on Earth.

The character will have an object of desire. In the premise that I've created, the supernatural force is manipulating people to gather in one location so it can infect them with a virus. Because I think this force is intelligent and sly, it's not going to be identical for every peson and is going to feed on the weakness of every individual. I think the best object of desire for the protagonist is going to be his pursuit of power within his sphere of influence. So, let's say he's an oceanographer (I pulled that out of nowhere). He would become famous and influential if he made an important discovery -- perhaps a discovery that can save lives such as tsumani detection technology (but in 50 years in the future we could make a more futuristic device). This is what he wants -- power. The force provides him the opportunity to seek this object and eventually he's going to have to go to this one location where the force intends to infect him. Now we have a lot more what ifs' to ask. As you can see, we're starting a great outline of the story and fleshing it out.

But we need to get back to the controlling idea.

I like up-endings so I want him to become redeemed in the end. I think his pride is too great and his pursuit of power is evil. His idea of saving lives is a great idea, but his reasoning is not -- he's doing it to gain influence for himself, not to help people -- this makes him conflicted and provides excellent dimension to his character. This force is going to manipulate his desire. But I am also going to add a subconscious desire to this. I want it so that he really doesn't want power...he simply doesn't recognize that the work he does already helps to save lives by adding to the research of others who are trying to find effective tsunami detection devices. He'll end up realizing this in the end. And this matches my controlling idea: ';Evil prevails when we fail to examine our conscious and instead follow others.'; His pursuit of power only leads him into trouble as he follows others in trying to please them. But we still have to deal with this supernatural force that is manipulating everyone. Do we make our protagonist one who defeats the force, or do we make him lose by it. Either way, we must know the controlling idea clearly at the end of the last climax no matter what he does.

Although I went off in a science-fiction direction, the controlling idea I discovered can exist in any genre and any setting whether this is based during the time of the Civil War, the present, or on Mars.

Although I wrote a lot, I hope leading you through the writer's process will help you to see clearer how stories are developed and make it easier to find the theme and your premise and then things will begin to fall into place.
I think whatever in life it always takes 99% persirations and only 1% inspirations. But I know if you seek long enough and watch ';The Secret';, it will guide you well!

    Hope it helps.

I would really like to move to San Francisco need input and advice on a few things?

I recently visited San Francisco and I absolutely fell in love with the city. I eventually want to move there. My question's are: Where is the best place to live regarding safety, commuting, housing prices, that sort of thing, and also any advice that locals might have for someone just moving there. Things like what to stay away from, where are the best places to meet people, fun things for locals to do, and just general tips. Anything would be appreciated. Thank you!I would really like to move to San Francisco need input and advice on a few things?
With the exception of 3 areas where you can see the methmouth crowd lounging in the street, the entire city is safe. SF is a small city, not a large one. Because it is so tiny, and so ethnic, and because everyone who graduates from a top school wants to live here for three years, it stays not only safe, but alive, vibrant and beautiful.

The three areas to stay away from are the Tenderloin, Bayside and the southside of Protero Hill. If you want to live in any of those places, you would have to be in the social services and receive housing though. So, don't worry about that.

The biggest issue for SF is competition.

The little real estate makes the very rare affordable places very compeititive to find or be accepted as a tenant.

The top graduates in the country all want to live here for a few years, so the entry level jobs all have like 500 applicants.

People from all over the world fall in love with SF and move here. That makes finding top jobs very competitive and most are invite only.

Finally, the cost of everything in SF and the SF Bay Area is the highest in the country and some of the highest in the world, while unemployment is the highest in the country. A one bedroom rents for $1500, a starter home begins at $650k and the insurance is killer. Come, but bring your best game and a big bank account.I would really like to move to San Francisco need input and advice on a few things?
All that's been said is good. But if you have good transpo you can find places in the East Bay and south on the peninsula. Still more costly than LA.

If you're gay you will meet many people quickly. If not then you need to ask where the straights hang. Lot's to do and see.

Like the outdoors you can travel north into redwood country or east to Lake Tahoe area.

Does anyone have any advice for how to get into the medical transcriptioning field in Tulsa, Ok?

I am really wanting to find a way to work at home after my first child is born. (Due in the fall.) And I've heard alot of people mention medical transcriptioning but I don't know how to break into that. Thanks!Does anyone have any advice for how to get into the medical transcriptioning field in Tulsa, Ok?
First of all congrats on the upcoming new arrival into your family. Being a medical transcrptionist first takes a lot of work. YOu will have to get your certificate first and then you can start working. I had a friend that did it, and after she paid for all the study material and then the equipment that you have to have to do the job she did it for like three months and said it wasn't worth it.

But I have an alternative for you if you want to check it out. I am a stay at home mom of four children, and I also work from home. I love it!! I make great money and don't ever have to leave the house for it. This is a legitimate business that is backed by the BBB for the last 23 years. If you are interested just check out the web address or email me. Hope to hear from you soon.

Can you give me advice on getting rid of a genital wart?

I am a 34 year old man, and have 1 wart on the side of my shaft, about halfway down. I really would like to get rid of it. Any proven methods would be appreciated!!Can you give me advice on getting rid of a genital wart?
There are a few ways to get rid of the warts, but HPV will stay with you the rest of your life because it is a virus. The warts can come back. You can have them lasered off, frozen off, or use topical medication (creams). Aldara cream is very useful, but very powerful. I've used it and it works great. You are only suppose to use it 3 days a week because you can get 2nd and 3rd degree burns from it. Unfortunately the only way to get Aldara is by going to the doctor and getting a prescriptionCan you give me advice on getting rid of a genital wart?
OK, so I went to the Dr, and had it frozen off. It has completely healed and looks perfect. You would never know I even had it!!!

It didn't feel great, but wasn't the most pain either...

There is a procedure the Dr. will freeze the wart's, but they may return.
Seeing a doctor is your best bet. They can freeze the wart off or have you use a certain cream. It is possible for warts to come back but the good news is, you can get rid of them- even if that means for a short while.
Do not do anything to it at home. You could end up in some serious hurt.

Just go to the doc or to an std clinic or planned parenthood.

Really. I work in an std clinic, and just trust me on this. I've seen people do everything from cut them off or burn them off, etc. Just go to a doc.
Yes, Bite the bullet and go see a doctor.
no way to do it! except keep your di*k out of dirty roten holes in the first place
yes go get the prescription from Ur doctor for the cream that way u can remove it at home or just get it acid off like everyone else does and stop worrying about it.

I will be in a 6 hour beer drinking event. Any advice for the whole day? What Food, Hydrate andy tips?

We play every game pong, quarters, chug, case race. We have time between events. What is the best food to eat before and during. Best way to hydrate besides water, gatorade or vitamin water or powerade. Any tips for the games I just said. Your advice is really helpful.I will be in a 6 hour beer drinking event. Any advice for the whole day? What Food, Hydrate andy tips?
i would say no to electrolights because that will keep the alcohol in your system longer... and i say eat fried foods because they are greasy and will soak up the alch... HAVE FUNNN... I WANNA COME!!!I will be in a 6 hour beer drinking event. Any advice for the whole day? What Food, Hydrate andy tips?
Stay away from the sugars that may be in gatorade and vitamin water. B12 is also a great thing to have in your system before and after....my husband--Air Force--does this before and after drinking.
Best way to hydrate without water? LOL! What do you think ';Hydrate'; means? In general the whole thing sounds like a brainless thing to do. Enjoy puking and try not to pee in your pants.
Only for 6 hours? You should think about extending the event you should be set with only alcohol but steak should help out.
DRINK DRINK DRINK DRINK im jelus have fun you lucky bastard lol drink some water i guess lol
Any breaded foods...like hotdogs or anything on buns because the bread will soak up the alcohol and prevent you from too much alcohol poisoning. Duh, drink water. But take some advil and an entire 16.9oz bottle of water about 2 hours ahead of time. After your day is over, repeat that before bed to prevent a hang over. Try to eliminate pop or anything in between too, because that only dehydrates you more and might make you sick. Make sure if it's beer, make it JUST beer. Beer before liquor, never sicker! =) Good luck. Have fun. Don't throw up too much.

Hi all any tips, advice or website to get organized and nicely plan my daily activities?

My new year resolution is to be very organized at home, go to swim at least twice a week, get organized with my papers and bills, and coordinate my kids activities to fit in my busy schedule. Just wondering if there is any website or expert advice that can help me accomplish that.Hi all any tips, advice or website to get organized and nicely plan my daily activities?
let me start by saying two things

    1) making a list and checking it twice is not a good method...you most likely will never finish everything and will still have complications in your schedule (im sure you do something like this already)

    2) making a list then prioritizing everything is also not the way to go. Everything you want to get done in a day needs to get done...you write that task down for the day because you feel it needs to be accomplished that day....prioritizing the task is just doing the important ones then the rest just get carried to the next and day and the next day and still doesn't get done and so on.

organizing is a lot more then just listing task and doing them...there is a way to organize your career, you home, your personal life, everything. If you are interested shoot me and e-mail @

    trentonseymour@gmail.com

    check this out as well

goodluck! = )Hi all any tips, advice or website to get organized and nicely plan my daily activities?
Before bed, take out a note pad and write what you will be doing the next day. Write out everything you want or have to do, and then number them by priority. You can't wait til the morning to do this, cuz your day has started by then. Whatever gets done gives you satisfaction. Whatever doesn't, no biggy, just put it back down on your list. If you keep NOT doing something, your either procrastinating, or it doesn't really need to be done.
follow santa's advice. make a list. check it twice.

cross off things as you go through the day. it will make you feel uber accomplished when you see all those crossed off tasks in the evening.

dedicate one day a week to taking care of money matters. use a program like quickin to help you with this if you need to.

tell her to be STRAIGHT FORWARD when she has this conversation with him about how he's making her feel. get straight to the point and do not, i repeat DO NOT beat around the bush or go willy nilly like ';oh i guess i was over reacting...'; he needs to know how she feels...What is the best advice i can give my friend over a boy?
Tell her to move on. She should not waste her time for that guy. Tell her there are still lot of deserving guys out there.

Comfort her. Hang out with her often and if possible let her mingle with other guys so that she won't remember the guy who made her cry.

    Best of luck!

  • Does anyone have any advice for a inexperienced person interested in photography as a hobby?

I would like to take up photography as a hobby and I would like to know if anyone can recommend a camera that I can start off using. I have no experience and would like some pointers as to how I can go about picking up this interesting hobby. Thanks.Does anyone have any advice for a inexperienced person interested in photography as a hobby?
Every photographer I know, amateur and professional, started out by reading books, magazines and everything they could find on the photography. Today, moreso than in the past, reading is so make surevital with the changes and advances that are occurring in the many different areas of today's field of photography every few months. Knowing how to handle a camera is somewhat like a carpenter knowing how to use his hammer; it's only one of many tools used, right?

Start off by going to the library and pick up an old book on black and white photography. You鈥檒l find chapters on camera parts, different types of films, filters, different types of lenses and their uses, etc. These are essential bits of information that you will use once you start toying around with photography. Learn the vocabulary (f/stop, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focal range, etc) and you'll find photography so much easier to understand.

Take a Beginner's Course at a local college (they usually offer this through the Adult, Evening %26amp; Continuing Education Department) or at a local YMCA/YWCA or some other similar organization near you. You'd be surprised how much you can learn in a matter of a few sessions, and how much fun it is. You can also join a photography club.

There are a few fine manual film cameras still on the market but I suggest that you look into a camera that can be used in a variety of ways. If you鈥檙e looking into a film camera to learn with, nothing beats a Nikon N80 with the Nikkor AF 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6D lens for beginners and advanced beginners; a slightly cheaper alternative lens is the Nikkor AF 35-105mm f/3.5-5.6D(macro) lens, a bit older, more affordable but equally as good. (If or when you move to digital technology afterward, you'll want to keep the Nikon N80)

The N80 can be used manually (you set the aperture and the shutter speed in either auto-focus or manual focus), semi-automatic (either in aperture priority or shutter speed priority; with manual focus OR auto-focus), or in total automatic mode where it sets the aperture and shutter speed, either auto-focus or manual focus. It is the preferred camera for beginners to take classes with. The options and features are similar to the pro-level camera, Nikon F100. This camera is ergonomically made, sturdy with a no-nonsense feel and also has three metering modes: center-weighted, spot metering as well as matrix metering. This camera will also set the film's ISO automatically for you, it will advance the film automatically as you take a photo and it will rewind the film when you take the last shot; it also has a few extra features to customize the camera to your personal comfort. It also has a built-in strobe!

I recommend the most versatile lenses put out by Nikon, the Nikkor AF 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6D lens, which can be used as a wide angle, a regular lens, a portrait lens, a short telephoto lens and as a macro-lens, too. Nikkor lenses are known for their superior build and superior glass formula. If, you can also afford to get the Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8D lens (about $70-$75 used), you will also have an excellent lens for low-light situations that is easy to carry and will save the day when you most need a fast lens. When you buy a camera, remember that you're also buying into a lens system, and you will want other lenses for other uses in the future, and the AVAILABILITY and QUALITY of lenses will play a major role in your future purchases. With Nikkor lenses (yes, that's what Nikon lenses are called), you'll find that they will also fit cameras from 1959 and all present-day modern camera mounts, including digital Single Lens Reflex cameras; the quality of lens build and the quality of glass formula is superior to those commonly found on the market. (If the 28-105mm f/3.5-5.6D is a little too pricey, consider the Nikkor AF 35-105mm f/3.5-5.6D-macro, the older but equally as versatile and equally good alternative lens but it says, ';macro'; because there's a much cheaper lens that cannot be used for macro-photography).

You will NOT outgrow this camera or the lens anytime soon. The features are there to help you, not to confuse you; it also has on-demand grid lines to help you keep the horizon level when you're shooting landscapes and/or seascapes! The camera will set the film's ISO for you automatically, and advance the film as you take an image and rewind the roll as you take the last image. It鈥檚 the preferred camera for photography classes, too, because you can use it as a totally manual camera, or semi-automatic camera or as a totally automatic camera. Be sure to also get the instructions manual or Hogan's book on the N80, which is also very, very handy and most helpful.

Some camera manufacturers change their lens mount every few years or have different lens mount on different camera models, which limits the camera owner; Nikon has NOT changed its lens mount since 1959 and has no plans on changing it, either. So, you can, basically, mount any lens made since 1959 and those to be made in the future, with the only restrictions that you cannot get auto-focus from manual lenses or metering from those without the contacts to send info back and forth to the camera. Lenses normally outlast cameras unless deliberately abused/misused or submerged in water or dropped on a hard surface; so, don't hesitate to buy used if the lens is good quality (no dents or obvious signs of abuse/misuse) from a reputable place. If you're not sure on what camera to get, go to any camera shop and ask to see the N80 and compare it with any other camera brand/model you may be considering; hold them both in your hands and look through the viewfinder and see which feels more comfortable in your hands.

If, on the other hand, you鈥檙e looking for a digital SLR to learn with, there are a few cameras that you can consider: the Nikon D50 or the Nikon D80; both are recent vintage with excellent features. If you鈥檙e already familiar with cameras, I suggest that you consider the D80, which is the most popular model today, aside from the semi-pro-level D200. Otherwise, consider the D50, the entry level digital-SLR camera, at the most affordable price tag.

Check with www.keh.com for the N80 and the recommended Nikkor lenses, and see what you can find; they have excellent and competitive prices (and they're very courteous and helpful, too). If you don't see what you want, go back in a couple of days; they get new merchandise in almost everyday, but be ready to buy when you see what you want because their merchandise doesn't stay on the shelves very long.

And check with B %26amp; H at www.bhphotovideo.com for the D50 and D80 camera models.

Don't buy gray market digital cameras... too many problems with repairs and servicing will follow. DO NOT EVER BUY form pawnshops... you don't know what you're getting and there are no warrantees or guarantees. Buy only from reputable places even if ';Joe Blow'; from down the road is offering the same item cheaper!

Photography is a great hobby, which has therapeutic properties (helps sooth tension, relieves stress), and you can participate in this hobby for the rest of your life, always learning something, always finding fun and interesting things to capture and always an adventure.

Good luck and best wishes!Does anyone have any advice for a inexperienced person interested in photography as a hobby?
I have the same your hobby - I bought kodad camera and a printer - I keep practising any time I can - and then I find out I 've been improving everyday - I think you will do the same - Be patient - Enjoy and good luck
I like kehkohjones answer (as usual), but I would suggest one factor in favor of digital. If you are interested in photography as a hobby, start in the digital world right off the bat.

Once you have a decent printer and learn how to use some image editting software, you will find you can produce prints as nice as those you do in the darkroom. Once you get over the hump of the initial investment, you will also realize that you're done spending money. No more film, chemicals or processing fees. You are able to take all the pictures you want FOR FREE and this is the right way to learn photography.

If you can find it, the new Nikon D40 is a decent quality DSLR for $599 with a lens. There are reasons to argue against this camera for an experienced user, but that does not include you at the moment and it costs half as much as many other so-called ';entry level'; DSLR's and not much more than a really good point and shoot digital camera.
A digital camera will give you instant results as you progress.

A good digital camera (removable lens) will cost about $600 - $800 for a D50 Nikon or Digital Rebel (maybe even an XT).

You will have to learn from somebody via books or classes...you can't just wing it!

    Practice makes perfect.

Once you find the aperture priority button you'll be off to a good start!
Practice makes perfect for starters. Also, learn about composition and lighting. Both are important.
If you are just starting out and have not purchased any equipment yet I'd recommend digital. With digital you can shoot pretty much for free after you've made your initial investment (camera, memory card). I'd also recommend a camera that has manual settings as well as the automatic ones. It would also be good if you could control aperature manually as well as shutter speeds, but now your starting to get expensive. If you go with a film camera most 35 mm slr's will have these features, and film cameras are pretty cheap now days. Also with film start out with slide film right away so that you can get an accurate Gage on your exposures. print film is OK but there are too many variables when processing, from processing the film to printing the image the person can change the way the final image looks and you would never know if it were shot right or not with slide film that's not the case. Good luck.
Go to pawn shops and look at SLR cameras. It's really best to learn on film SLR's in my experience. You can find some film SLR's for cheap there. Go to the liberary and pick up a book for beginners or go to your community college and take a class to get started. Then you can also learn about developing your own film and pictures which is so wonderful. It's my stress reliever.

Then after some time upgrade to a digital SLR and learn about those cuz they have all sorts of different features.
A suggestion: start with a simple, manual-mode 35mm camera such as a Pentax K1000, and learn the basics of photography before you sink a lot of money into equipment. If you can learn to compose through the viewfinder and estimate shutter/aperture settings by gauging the ambient light manually, you'll be miles ahead of most people when you do get a really good rig.

Similar suggestion for darkroom work: try it in someone else's darkroom first, to see whether you like it, before you put a lot of money into a darkroom of your own.

What is some good advice to give eigth graders about alcohol and drug use in high school?

I'm just a few years older than them and I want to somehow get through to them about not drinking or using drugs. Is there any way or anything I can say that you think will help me get them to really listen? thanksWhat is some good advice to give eigth graders about alcohol and drug use in high school?
Tell them, ';I've always had more respect for the kids who have the nerve to say NO, than for the ones who are scared of looking uncool and say yes to stuff that is totally not good for them.';What is some good advice to give eigth graders about alcohol and drug use in high school?
If they want to be successful in life they will not do drugs. People who get caught up in the drug culture end up addicted, serving time in jail/prison or dead.

They lose the support of their families. They often have to resort to stealing to support their drug habit. Methamphetamines rot your teeth and brain. There is nothing pretty about drugs.

8th graders brains are not yet fully developed. Alcohol use will impede the development of the brain of a young person. As will other drugs.

You can cut some articles out of the newspaper that show what happens to young people that do drugs and/or alcohol. Take them with you and share them with the youngsters you come into contact with. I congratulate you on wanting to make a difference.
Myself, I would ask if there were any happy students present.I would explain that we all have natural endorphins that make us happy. By drinking, drugs you sorta trick these endrophins. After a while they stop working, then the artifical ones take over-drugs, which is o.k.-if that`s the only way you want to be happy. Because the only way you can get happy is to get high.Oh, %26amp; BTW when you are not high you feel awful, because of the toil drugs take on your body-Takes vitamins out, Hung over.Dehydrated.Oh, those lovely pharmcy medicines do the same thing.
People are going to do what they want to do. You can't convince them not to use drugs or drink alcohol. What you can do, however, is give them the tools to understand why it is not good for them.

Show them the family tragedies that take place due to drugs and alcohol. Explain to them how it hurts your body.

However, face the facts. I am assuming almost 3/4 of Americans have drank alcohol at one point in their lives and a portion similiar to that has tried some sort of drugs.

    Just be sure to end your sermon saying, ';This is the advice I am giving you. I'm not trying to convince you all not to drink alcohol or not to do drugs, that choice is your's to make. However, you are all individuals who will make your own decisions in life. Just remember, that you are responsible for your actions. Take my advice or leave it, but just remember you make your own future.';
DON'T DO IT. drinking and drugs can get you temporarily happy, and people do it because it's ';fun';. not true. people try and drink their problems away, snd being drunk isn't the only way to be happy. ';But all my friends are doing it!';. Well, then maybe they aren't the friends for you. Im a sophmore in high school, and i dont drink or smoke (and i still have plenty of good friends, and im not considered a nerd). There are other ways to get ';high';. Duct tape people to walls, make prank phone calls, spray canned air upside down, and my favorite: fool around at walmart. maybe if it hasn't sunk in yet, check out Ozzy or Anna Nicole Smith (yeah, she's dead). How would you like it, 20 years from now: ';Hi, my name is *friends-name-here*, and im an alcoholic, because I thought it'd be a cool thing to do.
    Use stories if you can. ';I have a friend who...';

The best advice I ever got was from my parents telling me this: Blame me. Kids are doing something I knew was wrong, I could blame them. ';My parents would kill me if they found out and they always find out.'; Got me out of many situations.

If there was a situation I was unsure about, couldn't handle, whatever, to call home and they would come and get me. It worked. I just broke off from the groups and called them to come and get me.
tell them a story about somebody that you knew that it ruined their lives...

convince them that smoking or drinking

or drugs DOES NOT make people cool.

and just be honest and friendly not stiff and mean like some speakers ive had before lol...

    =] hope i helped
The best advice is ';DON'T';! But you already know that.

Usually the Police will have a program with Officer speakers.

Get the school principal to contact the local community office.
You need to explain the short- and long-term effects of drugs and alcohol on the body. I think that showing them pictures of drug effects and addicts will be beneficial.
Tell them a sad story about a person who really did drugs and see the consequences for it. Add a little humor in it so they won't think it's boring and at the end say DRUGS DON'T DO IT
kidshealth.org is a good site for kids. There are resources to go to from that site also.
    go slow
    high school sucks

Does anyone have any advice on where to find loans for starting a daycare center?

I have been running an at home childcare business for 2 years now and am very interested in opening my own center. However i am a single mom and have not so great credit so i think my chances of getting a loan a slim. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!Does anyone have any advice on where to find loans for starting a daycare center?
If you don't have good credit, even if you find a loan, your rates will be higher than what's advertised.

My advice is to offer some parents discounts for paying several months up front. That way, you'll have the cash you need to get started and possibly even some operating capital.

Plus, wouldn't it be GREAT to start out a business debt-free without having to worry about payments?

In today's market, it's hard for anyone to get loans, including those with good credit. So, being creative is often more effective and less stressful than going the traditional route when trying to finance small business endeavors.

    Good luck!

20yr old looking for advice on how to handle a DUI offense and also information on the consequences?

I am 20yrs old, bday is in august.I go to school and work.I have never been arrested nor had liscence suspended. I live in LA. Bac was .16 I think. No one was injured. I was arrested but no one read me my rights. I'm seeking any information on what to do or what I should expect in court. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!20yr old looking for advice on how to handle a DUI offense and also information on the consequences?
Forget about the ridiculous ';no one read me my rights'; line, everyone says that. And since you're under 21, any measurable alcohol is a DUI (if you were at .16, you were DOUBLE the legal limit). You will lose your license until you're 21 (at least), have a huge fine, alcohol school and will have attent at least six AA meetings as well as being on probation. Some people will suggest getting a lawyer but I can assure you all it will do is have you go first in court, the fines will be the same. Just go to court and take your punishment. You won't go to jail and it's possible, when you meet with your counselor after, to have it set up so you can drive to and from work. No one being injured has nothing to do with anything. The DUIs for people under 21 are worse than for people over, so you're going to have a rough year.20yr old looking for advice on how to handle a DUI offense and also information on the consequences?
Since you were never read your Miranda Rights, they may not be able to do anything. Go to a lawyer, it will be worth your money. make preparations for an alcohol dependence program, this will hopefully keep you out of jail. be aware that the corrections department eats young people up. I'm not trying to be mean,, it's the truth. You have no idea...make sure you handle this well. you don't need to be told to give up the grape juice right?
Go and take your punishment and be honest. Dont drive intoxicated in the future. As for not being read your rights. Well here in Wisconsin and Im sure in most of the states you dont have to be read your rights (Miranda) as an OWI doesnt constitute a custody interrogation and your rights do not need to be read to you.
I would go to findlaw.com, and see if your BAC would constitute a felony. Then I would stop drinking all together. Volunteer to attend an AA group and I drunk driving course. But, I am sure that you will still have to pay about 5,000 worth of fines and lawyers fees on top of that.

Anyone have advice on training a horse for barrels?

I am going to train my 5 yr old Quarter Horse mare for Barrel Racing is there any tips or pointers anyone could give me?Anyone have advice on training a horse for barrels?
Id start with basic western training. get a good walk, trot, canter on him before anything else you have to have a good fondation. Start off slow with your horse, some horses will never be barrel horses. Start with walking the pattern, than troting and so forth but dont push him let him take it at his own pace. Dont get mad at him either, spurs and crops are never the answer.

I trail ride and team pen and barrel race with Quarter horses also there the most versital breed you can find out there.Anyone have advice on training a horse for barrels?
Start her out slow. Just let her walk around the barrels and get to know the pattern before you ask for speed out of her. The speed will come with time - she needs to learn before she can just jump on it.

With my barrel horse, I work in flexibility excersizes for him. I take the rein, while on him, and pull it back to my knee, without kicking him. I ask him to 'whoa' until he does so, then I wait until he stops fighting the rein. I count to ten and pat his neck, giving him his head back. I then repeat with the other side. This keeps him very flexible and soft for me. You can also do this on the ground, with a lead rope.

Also to keep him flexible, I do a different ground excersize. Standing with a long lead rope, I get to one side or the other of him. with a key [or spur], I push into his midsection, right inbetween two ribs. I only do this until he takes at least one step over, then I pull the key back and let him rest and get praise. I do this until we make a full circle, move to the other side, and make him do a full circle over there. It keeps him very flexible in the midsection, enableing him to bend around the barrels nice and tight.

I'm assuming you do not want a nutcase barrel horse, so I would also work her on trails. This way, she knows that not EVERY time she goes out she isn't running barrels then getting put back into a stall. It really has helped me keep my horse sane.

    Hope this helps hun!
start slow doing it if you psh your horse to much he well not do any thing only run him hard ones a week and if the chogh are any thing let them walk for about 5 mins bc they are geting stuff from the bottem of there lungs out and thats a good thing. but once a week just take ur horse out for a nice trail ride so they feel good but COOL THEM DOWN RLY GOOD are the can get rly sick afther run thing wash them off and dry them and rub his legs and mucles. it well help you a lot and u can tell at a show the horses legs move way better

if u need move info u can email me o yea and make sure u use BOOT bc if ur house brekes a bone some time u have to put them down
Find a good trainer that can help train you and your horse. Find someone that is knowledgable and experienced, they can definately help you.

My american eskimo has been vomiting white foam for about a year. Is that normal? Anyone have any advice?

She had had rashes on her skin for about 60% of this year. She also has been prone to ear infections. The vet made me buy non-allergenic dog food, but it didn't help. She's gone to the vet numerous times and I've spent so much money on her. I have no answers or remedies. Any advice would be awesome. Thanks! My american eskimo has been vomiting white foam for about a year. Is that normal? Anyone have any advice?
Did your vet give you any allergy medicine for her skin? What sort of medicine did you give her for the ear infections? Maybe it is a reaction to the meds. I would look for another vet. Even just for a second opinion. Preferably, and this is just me because I believe in natural healing, a holistic vet. They will give you more options. And ask about something called SeaCure. You will have to be careful with the non-allergenic dog food (I think they have more protein because the allergens come from grains so I don't know how it would react). My local pet store owner told me about the SeaCure. It is supposed to help with skin problems and digestion. There was an article on it in Whole Dog Journal, an online publication. My american eskimo has been vomiting white foam for about a year. Is that normal? Anyone have any advice?
Maybe she is allergic to something in the environment. Something like carpet shampoo or bug spray or air fresheners or a million other things. It sounds like allergies but it might not be food allergies. Does the rash give you any indication? Like, it it is on her belly and she sleeps on her belly, it might be the laundry soap used to wash her bedding. It it's her legs, maybe it is a pesticide used to kill weeds on your lawn...apply some deductive reasoning and see if you can figure it out.
I think it may be tonsillitis. My dog was doing the same thing and that was what she had. She gets it from licking herself to much.
my dog did that for a year until he grew up but he grew out of it. he used to get carsick too. he can even look out the window now! it probably will just take time, but i'm not sure.
Maybe go to a different vet and get a second opinion. Might shine a new light on the problem and get some new ideas out there. good luck!
if you really cared about the dog you would take it to the vet. there living animals. if i were you i would definently take the dog to the vet.
    probably rabies the disease
Well Owning 3 American Eskimos I can say that this is not normal.

How often does she vomit white foam? And are you sure she is vomiting it or just foaming at the mouth? It could possibly be seizures. I would strongly suggest getting another vet to take a look at her.
Take him to the vet! This is not normal! it can mean that the dog is poisened, or that it is just always nervous, which isn't normal! Take him to the vet! Please!

    Swiss chard penne.

Girll some chopped onions, enough to cover the bottom of a skillet.

Cook 4 bunches of chard down in the same skillet. Takes about 5 minutes until it cooks down like collard greens (doesn't taste like them though).

Boil a pound of penne until al dente, turn off the heat. Drain it, toss the chard into the pot with the penne along with 2 cups of heavy whipping cream, 1 tub of grated parmesan cheese and a pinch of red pepper. Stir well. Serve it up with a helping of shaved parmesan on top.

    Chicken Francese Recipe

4 skinless, boneless, chicken breasts (about 11/2 pounds)

    All-purpose flour, for dredging

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

    4 large eggs

    3 tablespoons water

    1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil

1/2 lemon, with rind, cut in thin rounds

1/2 cup dry white wine, such as Pinot Grigio

    1 cup chicken broth

    1/2 lemon, juiced

    2 tablespoons unsalted butter

    1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley

Put the chicken breasts side by side on a cutting board and lay a piece of plastic wrap over them. Pound the chicken breasts with a flat meat mallet, until they are about 1/4-inch thick. Put some flour in a shallow platter and season with a fair amount of salt and pepper; mix with a fork to distribute evenly. In a wide bowl, beat the eggs with 3 tablespoons of water to make an egg wash. Heat the oil over medium-high flame in a large skillet.

Dredge both sides of the chicken cutlets in the seasoned flour, and then dip them in the egg wash to coat completely, letting the excess drip off. When the oil is nice and hot, add the cutlets and fry for 2 minutes on each side until golden, turning once. Remove the chicken cutlets to a large platter in a single layer to keep warm.

Toss the lemon slices into the pan and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, until fragrant. Add the wine, broth, and lemon juice, simmer for 5 minutes to reduce the sauce slightly. Roll the butter in some flour and add it to the skillet, this will thicken the sauce. Stir to incorporate and dissolve the flour. Reduce the heat to medium-low and return the chicken to the pan; place the lemon slices on top of the cutlets. Simmer gently for 2 minutes to heat the chicken through. Season with salt and pepper and garnish with chopped parsley before serving

    1/2 cup dry white wine

    1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules

    1 tablespoon cornstarch

    1 cup heavy whipping cream

    DIRECTIONS

Pound chicken breasts if they are too thick. Place a cheese and ham slice on each breast within 1/2 inch of the edges. Fold the edges of the chicken over the filling, and secure with toothpicks. Mix the flour and paprika in a small bowl, and coat the chicken pieces.

Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook the chicken until browned on all sides. Add the wine and bouillon. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes, until chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear.

Remove the toothpicks, and transfer the breasts to a warm platter. Blend the cornstarch with the cream in a small bowl, and whisk slowly into the skillet. Cook, stirring until thickened, and pour over the chicken. Serve warm.

    Spaghetti Carbonara

    INGREDIENTS

    1 pound spaghetti

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    8 slices bacon, diced

    1 tablespoon olive oil

    1 onion, chopped

    1 clove garlic, minced

1/4 cup dry white wine (optional)

    4 eggs

    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

    salt to taste

    ground black pepper to taste

    2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

    DIRECTIONS

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook spaghetti pasta until al dente. Drain well. Toss with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, and set aside.

Meanwhile in a large skillet, cook chopped bacon until slightly crisp; remove and drain onto paper towels. Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon fat; add remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil, and heat in reused large skillet. Add chopped onion, and cook over medium heat until onion is translucent. Add minced garlic, and cook 1 minute more. Add wine if desired; cook one more minute.

Return cooked bacon to pan; add cooked and drained spaghetti.

Toss to coat and heat through, adding more olive oil if it seems dry or is sticking together. Add beaten eggs and cook, tossing constantly with tongs or large fork until eggs are barely set.

Quickly add 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, and toss again. Add salt and pepper to taste (remember that bacon and Parmesan are very salty).

Serve immediately with chopped parsley sprinkled on top, and extra Parmesan cheese at table.
This is really easy and I have several US friends who have served it at Holidays.
