Does anyone have any advice on how to train a Blue Heeler to stop barking?

The Blue Heeler is constantly barking and wants a task, so I constantly play with the dog and he has plenty of toys. He will just sit there and bark for five minutes until he gets sick of barking.Does anyone have any advice on how to train a Blue Heeler to stop barking?
You need to increase his exercise level, due to them being a working dog they have natural instincts to want to work. Instead of playing with him take him for a walk and make him heel majority of the time. Stimulate his mind by teaching him tricks etc. Try going to an obedience/agility or fly ball school. Another thing that might help keep him quiet for a short time is a kong filled with peanut butter.Does anyone have any advice on how to train a Blue Heeler to stop barking?
Use a bark collar AND training. I got a citronella collar - it sprays lemon every time my dog barks (dogs dislike the smell) It is more effective and more humane than a shock collar

When he barks, make a loud growl sound (this is how canine leaders communicate in the wild) then throw a sock filled with pennies near him (if your aim is good) Soon all you will have to do is growl at him and he will know what it means

Some dogs were actually bred to bark by our ancestors who wanted them to alert them to noises. So you will have to be vigilant since it is his instinct. NEVER play with him in response to his barking or you are rewarding the barking

But make sure he's getting enough exercise and play time since this might help reduce the barking tendency

Also, make sure he knows you are the boss. If a dog doesn't know who is boss, he might think it is his job to protect the pack and might bark for this reason
squirt bottle if he is a house dog, and a squirt gun if he stays out side (In the middle of the night that squirt gun will come in handy, unless you want to walk around in the dark). Just a little squirt every time he barks will teach him not to do that. it only takes a couple day to break them of that bad habit
NOT breed related!!!

ALL YOUR FAULT!!

He barks...YOU ***REWARD*** him!!!

How stupid is THAT???

NAIL his butt!Put him on a choke/chain/prong collar %26amp; ***POP*** him!

EVERY TIME he takes a breath to bark!
Get it a bark collar. It seems mean at first, but it's really not after a few times, they learn to stop barking. It really worked for our dog. Good luck!
