Just looking for some advice and tips for living on your own?

I am gradtuating this year, and going away for college, and will be living on my own for the first time. Can anyone please give me some tips and advice for people who are new to the whole ';moving out'; thing.. It'd be greatly appreciated! thankyou!Just looking for some advice and tips for living on your own?
Draw up a realistic budget and stick to it.

Realize you are there for an education and not to party.

Careful of your choice or friends.

Have fun but do not neglect school work or classes. Remember mom is not there to wake you up or do your laundry. You are on your own

Start doing your own chores as if you lived away. This will help you decide priorities.Just looking for some advice and tips for living on your own?
I agree with Wordly2. Have fun but plan your partying around your school schedule rather than hop from one to the next. Many students, away from home for the first time go bezerk with the freedom but forget the repsonsibility that makes it all worthwhile.

If you're in a dorm, try to find someone with simular values as your own. If you are sharing an apartment, try to get one close to the school at first anyways, and check out roomies BEFORE you sign anything. If the kitchen looks like Pearl Harbor or the windows are lined with booze bottles - stay away. Finding fun on campus will always be easy, so try to find a place tha'ts quiet so you can relax and study when YOU want to, not when the party passes out. Try for a 6 month or month to month lease rather than a year lease in case you want to move to a better place but a year lease is cool if it's nice and a good rent.

Watch out for ';nice guys.girls'; who want to borrow all the time.

Make it a point to visit your profs in their offices early in the semester/quarter. Nothing pleases a teacher more than a student who wants to learn.

Enjoy it all and make it work for you.
how exciting!

good luck!

will you be working? start saving as much as you can,%26amp; please don't make the common college mistake of obtaining credit card debt.

i'm sure some offers will come your way,but resist. maybe one with a low limit to build some credit is all you'll need.

you'll get homesick, but also get the chance to meet all types of exciting people!
Don't think you have to have all new stuff. Become frugal now and enjoy a life without financial worries. Ask your family for any furniture they don't need. Save as much money as possible.Don't try to keep up with the ';Jones'
get a job

thats it

pay bills

have a good time
