My son is making a comic book. Does anyone have any good advice about what steps he needs to do to publish it?

My son who is 12 is working hard on a comic book. He spoke about wanting to one day publish it. The children in his class can't wait to read the next page. Any good tips on this subject would be appreciated. My son is making a comic book. Does anyone have any good advice about what steps he needs to do to publish it?
Definately keep encouraging him to do the comics. I've been doing one for a year now, that gets people's interest, and have decided to self publish. This will be a low cost, 'do it at Office Depot' (which is cheaper than Kinkos) and add a card stock cover to it. He can always go that route.

If you have a scanner and can upload, there are FREE places online that he can put his work, page by page. Lulu.com is too technically complex, but www.drunkduck.com is very easy. It's free, he keeps all the copyrights (not them, they just supply the hosting) and he can put up as much as he wants over there. I've looked at their FAQ, their forums, and the artwork, and it's definately an option for the beginner!

They also have tutorials, forums, news, interviews with cartoonists, etc.

There's also good cartoonist sites online.

Try Highlights children's magazine.
I'm waiting for a book on reserve called Making Comics by Scott McCloud.

He will love it because its specifically for cartoonists who can already draw but want to improve their story telling technique through drawing.

If he wants to improve his drawing to animation levels of Disney and Hannah Barbera, there's a detailed free course at

www.animationarchive.org.

My drawing has totally changed since I started this course
