Can anyone give me refrigerator advice?

I have a side-by-side. It's running, but neither the fresh or the freezer side are staying cool. It's also leaking a clear liquid out of the bottom. I checked the seal on the doors, and the lightbulb, and its neither of those. What should I do?Can anyone give me refrigerator advice?
Someone mentioned above that your coils might be frozen over, but from what you have described here, that doesn't sound like the problem. Besides, your refrigerator side would work fine in that case.

That clear liquid would probably be either condensation from the lines beneath the refrigerator, or your ice box water supply is leaking. Make sure the drain line from your drip pan is not clogged. If you have a leak on your water line, Home Depot will show you exactly what to do. Easy fix.

But the reason your refrigerator isn't getting cold can be a complicated answer. First of all, how old is your refrigerator? If it's more than a couple of years ol, you may need to recharge your freon. You'll have to call a service rep out for that. I think they'll charge you about $75. The other problem could be that freon pump has quit working:

Two things can happen there. The pump may be working correctly, but the manifold seal where the pump connects to the in and out lines may be leaking all your freon. The other instance is that the pump overheated or simply burned out. It really takes someone who knows what they're looking at to figure all these things out. That's why those guys get paid so well. But thankfully, once you know about refrigeration from one field like refrigerators, you can easuly move on to cars and air conditioners.

Anyway, you're not getting freon pumped for one reason or the other listed above. You will definitely have to call a service rep out unless you know someone that knows about these things. Can anyone give me refrigerator advice?
I bet the clear liquid is melting ice (water)

Try and defrost the freezer, it sounds like its frozen over, I bet if you defrost and then keep the temp not quite so cold you'll be alright. Plus this will save a repairman coming out. You can email me the check.(lol) I hope this helps.
get it checked out by an appliance repairer..
Bring a new one.
move it a bit further away from each other

is the food staying cold? if so, you need a new one

maybe its defrosting itself? check temp gauge inside
It sounds as though your compressor may have gone and the clear liquid coming out of the bottom is actually the fridge defrosting. you might want to call a tech as sson as possible to get it checked before everything in there spoils..
need to get it checked out for freon or whatever coolant it uses
Make sure the coils are clean and check the drip pan underneath. It's probably full. Other than that, call service.
Ok here is my advice on what to check out . First the liquid could be from your drip pan that is located underneith your Frig and could be over flowing due to a lack of evaporation from frig running alot . Most facing's on them pop off or you may have to check it from the back. Also it could be you need to turn up the temp. dial inside . If this was done already then it could be your compressor is going bad or it is in need of recharging. Another thing you can also check is to see if your air flow's are blocked by say lint or dust build up. this can be cleaned out with a vacume attachment if you have one. if you try this unplug first so you don't hit your fan motor if it has one .
Make sure the vents (little plastic grill) in both sides are not covered up.

Remove the grate at the floor (below the doors) and vacuum away the dust mat. Fresh air may not be getting to the unit.

Chech the rear of the fridge....make sure it's not covered with a dust mat.

Make sure the dials in the refrigerator side haven't been turned to too high a setting.

If none of those are a problem, you have probably lost the freon or the compressor has gone out. Call a service man.
If still under warranty, you should call the repair ppl.

If not, then you should still call them
The clear liquid is water. Is the fan running? if so what you need to do is check the coils in the unit. Take the panels out from the back of the inside of the unit where the fan is. Most likely they are dirty and possibly frozen. If there frozen disconnect your plug and get a hair dryer and thaw the ice. When its all thawed out get a degresser and spray it all over the coil then rinse it with water. Let it dry then turn it back on. This should be done to the coil on back of the refrigerator also. If the fan isnt running take it out by the two screws and take it to an aplliance store and buy one it costs $20. Good luck
The circulation fan is not working.

Find the fan housing and make a fist and gently but firmly bump on the fan housing. The fan might be frozen or stuck. This may loosen or unstick it. If this does not work call an appliance repairman and get a new fan and motor. Costs about $120.

The clear liquid is water that has condensed on the coldest parts of your inoperative fridge.
Coolant or compressor is leaking. If you have an Ice Maker, also check the water lines for that.

Sears has a site which will match you with a repair service by your zip code.
